1. Does my car qualify for the lower road tax ?

Road tax is currently £50 cheaper for cars under 1200cc, which includes Peugeot's 1.1 engine is 1124cc. This will soon apply to cars under 1500cc and the 1.4 engine will qualify.

2. Aren't cars cheaper abroad ?

Well, yes they are if you just look at the pre-tax price, but not if you look at the whole picture. The reason for the cars being cheaper is that the tax for example in Denmark is 115% on a car - Peugeot wouldn't sell many cars in Denmark if the pre-tax price was the same as here (at 17.5% tax) as you'd be paying £12,000 for the cheapest 106 (£6595 here), so they lower the price accordingly and actually make a loss.

Of course the reason why your wine is cheaper in France is that there is less tax to pay - if you actually had to pay UK tax when you brought it across the channel you'd end up paying more than in France, however cars are unique - you can buy your car abroad and pay UK tax - this is why the cars are cheaper when you import them - if you actually bought your car abroad and ran it there it would cost you exactly the same as in the UK !

The price comparisons portrayed by the media are also quite misleading - we would offer you a discount for no part exchange, and if you imported your car you would not be able to part exchange your car - so the price comparisons being made are between our full list price (no discount) and the discounted import price.

There are also differences in specification between UK and imported cars, the imported cars only have a 1 year warranty as opposed to 3 years in the UK, and most importantly an import would be worth less when you came to sell it.

Lets take an example :-

As you can see, it's actually more expensive to import a car, and that's without considering what its resale value is going to be like.

3. What do your prices include ?

All our new prices are fully inclusive of VAT, delivery and road tax, plus any manufacturer's offers

4. What discount can I get ?

We only offer a discount for no part-exchange, The amount however would depend upon a number of factors such as the specific car you are looking at, the availability and even colour can make a difference ! If you want the maximum discount you should visit us and be prepared to order it immediately.

5. Peugeot are the same as Citroen aren't they ?

No - not at all, this is a myth started by Citroen salesmen ! Peugeot actually own Citroen and the engines are identical, but this is also true of Volkswagen and Skoda - and you'd hardly say a Skoda was a Volkswagen would you !

6. How much is my car worth ?

Our most commonly asked question ! - the truth is that due to market fluctuations it is impossible to say exactly until you are in a position to order the car. We are of course happy to give you a rough indication.

7. What are your finance rates ?

Another common question - again it depends upon how much you are borrowing, how old the car is, and how long you want to take the loan over

8. How much is servicing ?

Visit our service department page for a full list of prices

9. Shouldn't I wait for prices to come down ?

No - the government has now published it's response to car prices, and whilst there are some very good things in it to control the power of car manufacturers over dealers, there isn't anything that will force prices to come down

10. Why can other manufacturers give me more for my car ?

The price for your part-exchange depends upon the profit a dealer has in a car - take the following example :-

Price of new car £8995 £7995
Price for your part-exchange £4000 £3000
How much it costs you to change your car £4995 £4995

So as you can see the price for your car is irrelevant - the best way to choose a new car is to look at how much it will cost you to change, and what specification you get for that money.
